Toronto Employment and Social Services is offering a new Emergency Service Sector Initiative to Ontario Works (OW) recipients. The Emergency Services Sector Initiative connects OW job seekers to information and careers in Emergency Services, including Firefighter, Paramedic, and Police Officer/Constable, along with supports available to prepare and enter various opportunities within the sector over the next couple of years.
We will also be offering a Firefighter Preparation Course in 2018 as Phase 1 of this initiative. Please see attached Firefighter flyer.
The following information sessions are being held in January 2018 and will provide information about careers in different branches in Emergency services:
- Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Golden Mile ESS, 1880 Eglinton Avenue East, Unit 139 (3PM-5PM)
- Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Lawrence Square, 700 Lawrence Avenue West, Suite 330 (3PM-5PM)
Please note, a referral for the information session is required.
To attend an Information session, candidates must meet the following criteria:
o 18 years of age or older
o Legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, Landed Immigrant, or hold a valid work permit)
o A Toronto Resident
o Able to understand and communicate in English
o No criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted
o An interest, aptitude, physical fitness and motivation to complete the program requirements.
